Sam Stosur is best known for her brilliant win at the 2011 US Open, taking out Serena Williams on ‘her’ court and in her prime. It had been 9 years since the last Australian Slam victory – Lleyton Hewitt at 2002 Wimbledon and way longer for the last woman – 31 years since Evonne Cawley won Wimbledon in 1980. Sam’s win was truly momentous!

Sam also reached the final of 2010 Roland Garros, losing out to Francesca Schiavone in the final after beating Justine Henin and Serena Williams on the way to the decider.

Sam’s won 3 Mixed Doubles Grand Slams and 3 Womens Doubles Slam crowns, her most recent being the Australian Open in 2019.

She’s been number 1 in the world in doubles, and as high as number 4 in singles, one of our greatest modern day Aussie players!

A four-time Olympian and long time Fed Cup rep, Sam loves playing for her country and has been a role model and very much a leader of the Australian women players.

She is a wonderful representative for the IC as a Beyond the Tour Player Ambassador, letting others know about the player community and encouraging them to join, to strengthen the tennis family.

The IC welcomes this great Aussie champ!
